該電影由韓國的制作公司策劃，主導投資與制作，並有制作《尖峰時刻》系列的傑伊·史甸臣等好萊塢著名制作人的參與。該影片是韓美兩國花費兩年的時間籌備的合作項目。
主演《罪惡之城》、《偷心》等影片的著名演員克裏夫·歐文與出演過《百萬美元寶貝》、《肖申克的救贖》等巨著的摩根·弗裏曼擔綱本片主角，韓國演員安聖基與樸詩妍將在影片中飾演重要角色。
影片導演為曾經執導過《俠盜石川》(GOEMON)的日本導演紀裏谷和明。影片以未知時代為背景，講述了勇猛和忠誠的將軍雷頓（克裏夫·歐文飾演）與其擁戴的君主巴托（摩根·弗裏曼飾演）在挑戰腐敗權力的同時卷入攸關生死事件的故事。電影計劃明年冬季在北美地區上映。
